Procedures

Capsule Endoscopy

Pacific Coast Digestive Health is proud to offer state-of-the-art small bowel capsule endoscopy for evaluation of obscure anemia and bleeding, abdominal pain of unclear etiology, and suspected small bowel bleeding and disease. The capsule, about the size of a large pill, contains a camera, mini transmitter, and light. When the capsule is swallowed, it sends information to a receiver. The information from the receiver is loaded onto a computer and analyzed by Dr. Javaheri. Eventually, the capsule passes naturally from the digestive tract and is eliminated in stool. Capsule endoscopy is safe and initial research indicates it is more effective than other diagnostic methods.
